How do I password protect a page on Squarespace?

Step-by-step guide to adding password protection to individual pages on Squarespace for client portals, member content, or private resources.

Squarespace allows you to password protect individual pages on any plan. To set it up, navigate to the page you want to protect in the Pages panel, click the gear icon to open page settings, and scroll to the Password section. Enter the password you want visitors to use and save. Visitors will see a password prompt when they navigate to that page, and they will need to enter the correct password to view the content.

Page passwords are useful for creating client portals, members-only content areas, staging pages you want to preview before publishing, and protected resource libraries. For example, a photographer can create a password-protected gallery for each client session, sharing the password only with that client. A consultant can create a resource page with downloadable templates available only to paying clients.

For more sophisticated member access with individual accounts, login functionality, and content gating, you will need Squarespace's Member Areas feature, which is available as an add-on starting at $9 per month. Member Areas supports individual user accounts, multiple access tiers, and integration with your e-commerce for paid memberships. For simple password protection without user accounts, the built-in page password feature is sufficient.
