Compare the full operating cost
Include hosting, domain renewals, plugins, support, content work, and the person responsible for updates. WordPress costs depend on your hosting and plugin choices. Squarespace costs depend on the plan and any separate services. Use current vendor quotes rather than a single headline monthly price.
Choose the maintenance arrangement
Decide who will troubleshoot a failed form, update an integration, and restore a change. If the business needs custom functionality, verify it directly in a trial or prototype. Document who owns the accounts and how another developer can take over.
